About us

The Parish of St Andrew and St Mark

We are two churches that live and breathe together and stand at the heart of the community of Surbiton. Around 15,000 people use our buildings each year, of whom 5,000 come to a service of one type or other.

We hope to offer the best of the Church of England’s tradition, with a great choir, thoughtful sermons, a Eucharist each Sunday and beautiful services; alongside that, there are other services where things move a little more freely, in particular our services specially designed for families with young children: here the beauty may be less in hitting the right notes, than in the spirit with which we’re singing.

Our churches are places to celebrate, both with joy, as at Christmas and at baptisms and weddings, but also, at times, with reflection and mourning, as at All Souls or at funerals.

“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted…”

Our churches are a place for all these things to happen, as well as a place for people to find their own journeys at more mundane times, both as individuals and as part of the community of Surbiton. Our prayer is that through our churches, we fan the flames of God’s spirit in this place.
